2009 September 1st, Turunç

A Great Tit and a Jay seen in the garden on the north, a Red-backed Shrike seen on the wire where there is a water house on the west.

2009 August 30th, Turunç

Two Blackbirds by the road in the west forest. A Raven appeared suddenly by jarring over the red pine trees and rocky hills where there is a waste water treatment system by the sea. And then disappeared beyond the trees far away. Two Yellow-legged Gulls, one was flying towards the north rocky hills, the other was resting on a rocky island near the shore and the ruins of the antique city, Amos. The Raven appeared again and it accompanied the Yellow-legged Gull. A Long-legged Buzzard seen while it was gliding over the place where I saw the Raven first. And it kept flying over the sea, and then I lost it in the background. And also a Common Buzzard seen over the village by the west forest, it was flying very close to the houses and gardens. Two Blackbirds, a Jay, a Coal Tit, a Great Tit by the roadside in the south forest; four Blackbirds in trees and bushes, a Jay in an olive tree on a slope in the west forest, Collared Doves and House Sparrows seen. The Raven I saw first appeared again over the north rocky hills.

2009 August 20th, Turunç

A Wheatear by the roadside before the village Dereözü and also a Blackbird, two Jays by the roadside after that village on the way back to Turunç. A Red-rumped Swallow and two Great Tits in Turunç.

2009 June 22nd, Turunç

Two Blackbirds, two Red-rumped Swallows, Barn Swallows and House Martins, and four Jays seen on the north today. Two of the Jays were juveniles and one of them was a cannibal. It was eating a newborn bird. I heard the song of a Rock Nuthatch in the west forest where there is a rocky hill and water house this afternnon and the call of a Scops Owl in the same forest at about 21:00.

2009 June 8th, Turunç

A Tawny Owl seen, it alighted at the edge of the roof at around 01:00.

2009 May 23rd, Turunç

A Blue Rock Thrush seen on the roof where there are sun panels at about 17:00. It stayed there for a while and then flew off.

2009 May 17th, Turunç

A Song Thrush alighted on the top of a chimney at around 19:00. And then it dissapeared in the dark.

2009 May 7th, Turunç

Birds seen today: an Alpine Swift, a Red-rumped Swallow, Barn Swallows, House Martins, House Sparrows, Collared Doves.

Birds heard today: a Blackbird (sang afternoon), a Scops Owl from the west forest, a Tawny Owl from the north forest.

2009 May 6th, Turunç

First I heard the call of a Raven over the north rocky hills. Then I saw it while it was flying to the northwest by jarring and then it flew to the south. The other birds seen today: a White Wagtail, two Jays, a Red-rumped Swallow, a Blackbird, House Martins, Barn Swallows, House Sparrows and Collared Doves.

2009 May 2nd, Turunç

Fifteen Bee-eaters seen on the north at around 15:00 and they kept on flying. A Tawny Owl's call heard near the hotel's west side at 00:45.

2009 May 1st, Turunç

Thirteen Bee-eaters flew off from northwest to the north and at the same time a Raven jarred over the north rocky hills at around 14:00. I heard the call of a Scops Owl near the hotel at 20.00. Other birds seen in Turunç today: a Blackbird, a Great Tit, a Red-rumped Swallow, an Alpine Swift, Barn Swallows, House Martins, House Sparrows and Collared Doves.

What bird is it?

I suppose it is a juvenile Rufous Bush Robin.

2009 April 28th, Turunç

A Bee-eater seen at the same location as same as on 26th April, a Red-rumped Swallow, Barn Swallows and House Martins (one alighted on the top chimney of the hotel, looked around for a while and then flew off) , House Sparrows and Collared Doves, a Great Tit and a Blackbird seen today, and a Scops Owl heard on the west forest in the evening.

Heard the call of a Moorhen in the reeds, two Kingfishers flew from the reeds, two Sand Martins flew off, a Blue Rock Thrush on a rocky edge, heard the call of a Blackbird, a Lesser Whitethroat in a tree, heard the call of a Cetti's Warbler in the reeds, a Spotted Flycather on the top branch of a dead tree, heard the call of a Robin in the bushes, a Great Tit, heard the song of two Rock Nuthatches at the same moment from different directions, five House Sparrows and two Collared Doves seen at the location where the Nile Turtles seen in the Dalyan Canal.

2008 October 11th, Dalyan

I saw a Little Owl in a tree at the Dalyan Harbour before we board the boat.

Two Little Grebes by the reeds, a Sparrowhawk was disturbed by six Jays over the hill while it was flying and later it disappeared behind the hill but Jays kept flying there and then two Hooded Crows joined the game of the Jays, later three Kestrels appeared at the same location and they started to fly together from one edge to another edge of the rocky cliff and they took the Jays and Hooded Crows away from their territory, at the location where the Nile Turtles seen in the Dalyan Canal.

And also this morning a Kingfisher was caught by a captain in his boat, I told him to let it go and he has done it. It went back its kingdom.

2009 April 26th, Turunç

Six Alpine Swifts flew around a House Martin over the hotel this morning, heard the song of a Blackbird near the hotel afternoon, heard the song of a Scops Owl in the west forest afternoon, heard the call of a Bee-eater over the hotel and it flew alone, kept flying for a while and it flew off when an Alpine Swift got close it , I saw a Corncrake crouched down in the corner of the door of the boiler room at about 19:00, it looked very tired and was shy, it flew a few meters close to the ground, alighted again, hid itself under an idle refrigerator at a run and then it flew off after it stayed there for a while, and also a Great Tit, a Jay, Barn Swallows, House Martins, House Sparrows and Collared Doves seen today.

2009 April 25th, Turunç

Two Alpine Swifts, two Red-rumped Swallows, House Martins and Barn Swallows seen over the hotel today. Barn Swallows have perched on wires near the hotel.

2009 April 24th, Turunç

Seven Alpine Swifts flew over the hotel I work together with Barn Swallows and House Martins, heard the song of a Scops Owl before sunset.

2009 April 23rd, Turunç

A Blackbird, a Red-rumped Swallow, over fourty Alpine Swifts flew to the east over sea at noon, heard the call of a Bee-eater on the south but I could not spot it, heard the song of two Scops Owls at the same moment on the west forest area at 21:00, Barn Swallows and House Martins, House Sparrows and Collared Doves.

2008 October 12th, Göcek

Two Mallards seen in flight and landed by the reeds at the end of the shore on the west of Göcek in the morning. A White Wagtail at the port. A Shag stood on the rocks on the southface of Göcek Island. Over thirthy Yellow-legged Gulls around the islands and bays. Four Robins in the olive trees and a Willow Warbler in St. John's Bread Tree. The hoarse scream of a Jay heard in the ruins of the church and then seen in flight on Tersane Island.

On the way back by boat around 18:00 a raptor seen in flight over the rock-cut tombs at Taşyaka, but could not be identified because of the opposite light. It seemed like an eagle.

2009 April 21st, Turunç

A Raven jarred in flight from north to the west forest. Twelve Bee-eaters seen on the southwest and six more after them, they flew to the north at noon, nearly twenty minutes later about thirthy or fourty of them appeared in chorus over the west forest, they flew back and forth untill the sunset over Turunç. A Scops Owl's call heard at noon. A Blackbird, A Red-rumped Swallow, Barn Swallows and House Martins, a Great Tit, a White Wagtail, House Sparrows and Collared Doves.

2009 April 20th, Turunç

Nineteen Bee-eaters seen over the west forest and they flew to the north. A Blue Tit seen and heard its song. A Blue Rock Thrush seen in flight. A Red-rumped Swallow together with Barn Swallows and House Martins on the north. Heard the call of a Song Thrush near the hotel I work this morning and another one in the south forest after the sunset. A Blackbird on the north and another one in the south forest before the sunset. A Great Tit, a White Wagtail, House Sparrows and Collared Doves. Heard the call of a Scops Owl near the backyard of the hotel I work at 19:00 and heard another one in an old St. John's Bread Tree by the roadside on the south at 22:00.

2009 April 19th, Turunç

A Blue Rock Thrush perched on the top branch of a tree in the garden of a bar near the hotel I work and flew to the north after it sang there for a while. Two Jays (one of them mewed like a buzzard), two Great Tits in courtship, a Blackbird, Barn Swallows and House Martins, House Sparrows and Collared Doves.

2009 April 18th, Turunç

Five Alpine Swifts on the west and sixteen Alpine Swifts over the sea on the northeast seen at the same moment, a Red-rumped Swallow, Barn Swallows and House Martins, a Blackbird, a Yellow-legged Gull, House Sparrows and Collared Doves, heard the call of a Scops Owl and a Tawny Owl in the west forest at 20:00.

2009 April 16th, Turunç

Alpine Swifts arrived Turunç. Five Alpine Swifts, a Swift and two Red-rumped Swallows seen together with Barn Swallows and House Martins on the north. A Cormorant and a Yellow-legged Gull standing on a rock together on the north rocks by the shore. Heard the call of a Scops Owl in the west forest at 20:00. A Great Tit, a Blackbird, House Sparrows and Collared Doves.

Two Jays, two Red-rumped Swallows, a Great Tit, Barn Swallows and House Martins, House Sparrows and Collared Doves, and heard the call of a Scops Owl in the west forest at 19:00.
